Helen R. Adams

Helen R. Adams, 90, of Mt. Pleasant Rd., Penfield, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the DuBois Nursing Home after a short illness.
She was born July 15, 1921 in Port Vue, Pa., daughter of the late John Francis and Helen (McKenna) Moore.
She married Louis Adams on October 9, 1940. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2006.
She resided in McKeesport from 1940 to 1977, then moved to Bennetts Valley. She was retired from Giant Eagle, where she had worked as a manager for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Force and was very active for more than 20 years with the Civilian Conservation Corps Museum of Parker Dam State Park. In honor of her and her husband’s many years as volunteers, the park renamed the Museum in 2006 as the “Lou and Helen Adams Civilian Conservation Corps Museum.”
She is survived by one sister, Florence Knuff of Philadelphia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen R. Adams is scheduled for Friday, October 28, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, with Father Thomas Tyler as celebrant.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 2 –4 and 7 – 9 p.m. and on Friday, October 28, 2011 from 8:30– 9:30 a.m. at the Ralph
M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield.
Interment will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.
