Helene “DeDee” Maholtz

Helene “DeDee” Maholtz, 65, Bennetts Valley Highway, Weedville, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center after a short illness.
She was June 22, 1948 in Weedville, daughter of the late Geno DeCarli and Helen (Wadding) DeCarli, of Weedville, who survives.
On April 7, 1990, she married Philip “Kenny” Maholtz, who survives.
She was a graduate of St. Marys High School and the Pennsylvania Academy of Cosmetology in DuBois.
She was owner/operator of DeDee’s Hair Shop in Weedville.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Bennett’s Valley Legion Auxilliary. Her most beloved activity was her grandchildren who called her “Nona.”
She lived most of her life in Bennetts Valley.
In addition to her mother, Helen (Wadding) DeCarli of Weedvile, and her husband, Philip “Kenny” Maholtz also of Weedville, she is survived by two children, Jason (Irene) Jericho of Frederick, Md., and Casey (Paul) Mihalko of Uniontown; four grandchildren, Hunter, Emma, Lucas, Joseph; one sister, Peggy DeCarli of Medix Run; two brothers-in-law, John Sechman and Raymond Maholtz; two nieces, Jessica and Annette; and one nephew, Blake.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Elijah; and one sister-in-law, Phyllis Sechman.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Helene “DeDee” Maholtz will be celebrated Saturday, Feb. 1 at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Force, with Father Thomas Tyler celebrant.
Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Winslow Hill, Benezette.
There will be no public visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to a local Humane Society.
