Henry P. “Hiney” Jesberger

Henry P. “Hiney” Jesberger, 93, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 185 Center St., Elk Towers, St. Marys, died Sunday morning, March 13, 2011 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after a brief illness.
He was born March 21, 1917 in St. Marys, son of the late Fred and Clara Wehler Jesberger.
On June 30, 1945, in the St. Mary’s Church in Erie, he married Mary C. Burdick, who preceded him in death on Nov. 23, 1999. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage.
Mr. Jesberger was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1935. He was a retired employee of Airco Speer, retiring in 1982 after 47 years of service.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and was a veteran of WWII, having served in the Navy. He was a life member of the American Legion, a life member of the Knights of Columbus, a life member of the Moose Club and a life member of the BPOE Elks. He served on the St. Marys Planning Commission, the Water Commission, the Parking Authority, the St. Mary’s Church Committee, and on the Board of Directors at Elcam.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Williams and her husband John of Bethlehem; and two brothers, Paul Jesberger of St. Marys and Fred Jesberger of Gilbert, Ariz.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Anna Marie Whiteman, Clare Hasselman, Peggy Storer, Doris Pichler, and a sister in infancy; and one brother who died in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Henry P. Jesberger will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.
Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Sacred Heart Church, 325 Center St., St. Marys, PA 15857; or to the Elk County Catholic High School, 600 Maurus St., St. Marys, PA 15857.
