Herbert R. "Red" Geyer

Herbert R. "Red" Geyer, 94, of 405 Center St., St. Marys, died at Elk Regional Health Center on Sunday, May 15, 2011 following a short illness.
He was born Nov. 5, 1916 in St. Marys, a son of the late Albert and Matilda Bauer Geyer.
On May 17, 1941 in Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, he married Rita Seifert Geyer, who survives.
Mr. Geyer was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the PFL and the CMF Club. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time at his camp with his family and many friends. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and baseball, especially his beloved Yankees. He was the last member of his immediate family.
In addition his wife of nearly 70 years, he is survived by two sons, Gerald Geyer of St. Marys and Allan Geyer and his wife Mary Lou of St. Marys; a daughter, Marilyn, Mrs. Robert Zamboldi of Emmaus; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Mrs. Gordon Young, Kathryn, Mrs. Steve Heilenman, Robert Zamboldi, Jeffrey Geyer, Adam Geyer, Jennifer, Mrs. Chris Tucker, and Justin Geyer; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Meyer, in 2007; two brothers, William Geyer, killed in action during WWII in 1944 and James Geyer in infancy; and a daughter-in-law, Alice Geyer, in 2005.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Herbert R. "Red" Geyer will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 325 Center St., on Tuesday, May 17 at noon with the Rev. Eric Vogt OSB as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Tuesday morning from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
