Honoring the Bucktails

September 4, 2012

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War, and a fitting tribute to area residents who served was held Saturday at Mt. Zion Historical Park with a number of prominent guest speakers, reenactors, displays, and the dedication of a monument to the Elk County Rifles Company G, 13th Pennsylvania Reserves, 42nd regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers-- otherwise known as the "Bucktails," so named because of the whitetail deer tails they wore on their hats.
