Hoohuli named All American by ‘PARADE Magazine’

St. Marys Area’s Kayla Hoohuli has been named a member of the 40-member “PARADE All America” girls’ basketball team.
Hoohuli joins 39 high school basketball seniors from 30 states on a list compiled by “PARADE Magazine” and “Sporting News”.
In her four years at St. Marys Area, Kayla led her team to four consecutive District 9 Class AAA championships.
At the conclusion of the 2010-2011 season, Kayla was named the Pennsylvania girls’ basketball Class AAA Player of the Year in a vote by the state sportswriters.
Hoohuli scored 2,604 points in her four-year career, becoming the all-time leading scorer at St. Marys Area High School. She also holds the record for most points scored in a single game, 52, and in a season, 757.
During her senior year, she averaged 28.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 7.5 steals, 4.3 assists and 3.8 blocked shots per game.
The Lady Dutch finished the 2010-11 season with a fine 22-2 record.
The 5-10 guard will attend Canisius College and play basketball for the Golden Griffs.
