In a 6-1 vote members of St. Marys City Council approved a cooperation agreement among the city, North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission and Creekside Investments, LLC for a new downtown hotel project.
Councilman Gary Anderson cast the only opposing vote.
"I don't think the city is fully protected from any financial liability and I believe that we should have had a letter of credit from his bank or a bond from an insurance company to make sure the city has no financial liability," Anderson explained.
Under Act 47 of 2010 the state allocates up to $3 million of Capital Redevelopment Assistance funds for the acquisition. The total cost of the project is $6.2 million for a 65-room hotel.
