Jacob named Democratic district justice candidate

July 15, 2011

St. Marys resident and attorney Mark Jacob has been named as the Democratic nominee on the ballot for Magisterial District Justice 59-3-03 in the Nov. 8 general election.
Jacob was nominated by the Elk County Democratic Party's executive committee this week following the withdrawal of Democratic primary ballot winner Stephen P. Skrzypek of Kersey. Skrzypek took the top spot on the May 17 ballot. He withdrew his candidacy on July 5.
Both candidates cross-filed on the ballots, with Jacob winning the Republican nomination. He finished second on the Democratic ballot behind Skrzypek.
Bob Roberts, chair of the Elk County Democratic Party, said the party's executive committee met to discuss their options and by majority vote nominated Jacob to be the Democratic candidate for district justice on the November ballot. Roberts said the decision to nominate Jacob was because Jacob was the second-highest vote-getter on the Democratic ballot in the primary election.

Thats right, just hand it out to the Democrat and NOT have a election by the PEOPLE.That position is not supposed to be POLITICAL, yet the local DEMOCRATS led by their CHAIRMAN just made that position POLITICAL. How sad. No wonder no one respects the SYSTEM..... Shame, Shame, Shame....
