James B. Marshall
James B. Marshall, 87, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, died Monday, March 19, 2012, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 3, 1924, in Lock Haven, the son of the late Frank and Shirley N. Vierrier Marshall. He was a loving husband to Lucille Hostetlar for 65 years; she survives. James was Methodist by faith. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during WWII. In the military, he had extensive culinary arts training. He had been employed at his family-owned Marshall Laboratory and at Ridgway Color and Chemical. He really enjoyed the people at Elk Haven. He was a very proud and loving grandpa and great-grandpa. Surviving in addition to his wife Lucille, of DuBois, are six children of whom he was the proud father: Barbara Beers (James) of Coquille, Ore., James Marshall Jr. of Brookville, Darla Stone (John) of Houston, Texas, Grace Huling (John) of Ridgway, Larry Marshall of Ridgway, and Lori Maroni (Robert) of Ridgway; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and by a brother, Norman Marshall (Pauline) of Ridgway. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, John Marshall; and by three granddaughters, Kristen Stone Hartland, Diane Penfield and Rachel Penfield. Funeral services for James B. Marshall will be held in the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 2:30 pm. Officiating will be the Rev. Dennis Johnson of the Sheffield United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be accorded by the Ridgway Military Honor Detail. Friends will be received at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
