James E. Abriatis

James E. Abriatis, 65, of 6902 Route 120, Emporium, died unexpectedly at Soldiers & Sailors Hospital in Wellsboro on Friday afternoon, December 21, 2012.
He was born September 30, 1947 in Castle Shannon, a son of the late Paul "Pete" and Mildred Renton Abriatis.
On October 29, 2011 he married Beverly Crosby Abriatis, who survives.
Mr. Abriatis graduated from Cameron County High School. He served with the U.S. Navy Seabees during the Vietnam era. He was a heavy equipment operator who operated various machines. He was most happy while operating the equipment. He was a member of the Miller-Raffaele Post 6221, VFW. He loved NASCAR, Steelers, hunting and 4-wheeling. He coached girls' softball for his daughters' teams for many years and enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Beverly Crosby Abriatis, he is survived by three daughters, Heather Hahn and her husband Cliff of Emporium, Allyson Abriatis of Muskegon, Mich., and Kelly Kriner of Emporium; two sons, Adam Kriner of Emporium and Matt Kriner of Emporium; five grandchildren, James, Cameron, Cade, Reagan & Brayden; two brothers, Paul "Sonny" Abriatis and his wife Donna of Emporium, and Robert Abriatis and his wife Roseann of Mesa, Ariz.; and a half-brother, Ron Abriatis of Marienville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul "Pete" and Mildred Renton Abriatis.
A funeral service for James E. Abriatis will be held at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth St., Emporium, today, Monday, December 24 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Joseph Short, pastor, First United Methodist Church, officiating. A military service will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.
Burial will be in the Rich Valley Cemetery, Emporium.
Visitation with video tribute was held at the Barnett Funeral Home on Sunday from 3-6 p.m.
