James Patrick Leslie

July 8, 2012

James Patrick Leslie, 50, of Ridgway, died after a courageous fight on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at UPMC Pittsburgh.
He was born Oct. 26, 1961 in Greenville, son of the late John C. Leslie and Patricia J. Benton.
Jimmy was a 1979 graduate of Ridgway Area High School, followed by working several years at Exotic Metals in Ridgway and Penntech Papers in Johnsonburg. He loved distributing food from his own garden to loved ones and taking walks with his buddy, Max. He enjoyed fishing with Robin Stahl and teaching his passion to his nephew, Cody Leslie. He loved going to camp with his second family, Mark, Bill, Kevin and Fred Leahy, and hunting turkey with his brother Mike.
He was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan and was a rare man, witty and humorous, whom many thought of as their best friend. His late-night calls to family and friends will be missed.
James is survived by his wife of 11 years, Shirley Lewis; their four children, C.J. Leslie and his fiancee Marissa, Todd Lewis and his fiancee Kylee, and Andrew and Alida Leslie; three grandchildren; Jayden "Rosebud," Kobe and Owen James; brothers Larry and his wife Joan of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., John and his wife Judy of Shippenville, Michael and his wife Tari of Ridgway, Mark and his wife Chele of Ridgway, Ralph Leslie of Ridgway and Tommy Leslie of Sharon; and his sisters, Darlene Peterson and her husband Ray of Transfer, Yvonne Beres and her husband Tim of Greenville, Martha Miller Leslie of Ridgway, Colleen Becker and her husband Blaine of Brockway, and Betty Bedner and husband Leon Painted Post, N.Y.
He also leaves behind his uncle, Howard Long and his wife Rose of West Union, Ohio; his aunt, Nancy Dearbeck of Florida; and his mother-in-law, Sherry Disque of Johnsonburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sweet niece, Kenzi Royer.
A celebration of life memorial service for James Patrick Leslie will be held privately.
There will be no visitation.
Donations may be made in memorial to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
