Jane "Jennie" Francis

Jane "Jennie" Francis, 93, of Silver Creek Terrace, St. Marys, formerly of Johnsonburg and St. Marys, died at the Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys on Thursday morning, Oct. 11, 2012 following a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 3, 1919 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Stephen and Grace Scrivo Vavala.
She married William "Bill" Francis on March 6, 1943; he preceded her in death in August of 1986.
She had resided in St. Marys for the past three years, had lived in Johnsonburg from 1987 to 2009 and had lived in St. Marys prior to 1987.
She graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1938. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Church, where she was a member of the Holy Rosary Senior Choir. She had been a member of the Sacred Heart Church Choir. She enjoyed playing piano and spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.
She was employed by Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital for 10 years, retiring in 1984.
She is survived by one daughter, Diane C., Mrs. Robert Schloder of Ridgway; one son, William "Bill" Francis and his fiance Price of Ridgetop, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Christine M. Schloder and her husband Rob Davis of New York, N.Y., and David A. Schloder and his wife Una of Erie; three great-grandchildren, Andrew and Julia Davis of New York, N.Y., and Kiersten Schloder of Ridgway; two sisters, Margaret "Margie" Occhiuto of Johnsonburg and Veronica F., Mrs. Anthony Ferragine of Johnsonburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael Francis; two brothers, Salvatore and Bruno Vavala; and five sisters, Helen Tassone, Marian Dellaquila, Brunina Tripodi, Josephine DeFiore and Rose Damore.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jane "Jennie" Francis will be conducted at the Holy Rosary Church on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 at 10 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor. Interment will be held at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, St. Marys. Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Sunday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.
