Janet Rose Shelander

Janet Rose Shelander, age 74, of Duffy Apartments, Johnsonburg, died at home Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 after a brief illness.
She was born June 17, 1939 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Edward and Stella (Kinny) Shelander.
She attended Johnsonburg schools and worked at Stackpole Carbon of Johnsonburg and St. Marys, Elcam, and the Deli of Johnsonburg Market Basket/Jubilee.
She was a member of Central’s, the Piedmonte, Johnsonburg Senior Center and the Young of Heart Club of the high-rise. She loved going to the casino in Salamanca, playing cards, cooking, canning, going on bus trips and especially collecting bears of all kinds. Janet was a loving person and enjoyed helping others.
She lived all her life in Johnsonburg.
She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Shelander of St. Marys; three grandchildren, Cheyenne, Sara and Chelsie Gausman; one brother, Melvin Shelander of St. Marys; one brother-in-law, Robert “Andy” Barnett of Johnsonburg; one sister-in-law, Esther Shelander of St. Marys; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Donna Shelander, Dolly Simpson, Peggy Barnett and Doris Nesman; and five brothers, Leo in infancy, Burley, John, Kermit and Arthur Shelander.
Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013 from 2-3 p.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home, Johnsonburg.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013 at 3 p.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home, Johnsonburg, with Pastor Ron Burkett.
Interment will follow in Wardvale Methodist Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
