Jay Twp. residents fear unsecured Shale explosives

JAY TWP. - Concern regarding explosives being stored in Spring Run was discussed with residents at Thursday's meeting of the Jay Township Board of Supervisors, with residents fearful that the explosives could easily be stolen.
Bob Coppolo of Weedville said to his knowledge, not one blasting permit has come through Jay Twp. and asked the supervisors if they had any additional information on the subject.
"I'm not even sure if they have a license to do it. I've asked them and they've ignored me," Supervisor Fran Gustafson said.
Coppolo suggested supervisors contact the state Department of Environmental Protection to see if any blasting permits have been issued for the Township.
