JAY TWP. – The Jay Township Board of Supervisors approved sending a letter of support to Highland Twp. supporting Highland's decision to ban injection wells within their municipality.
The letter, which was provided by Elk County C.A.R.E.S. (Citizens Advocating Responsible Environmental Stewardship) reads:
"We the supervisors of Jay Township, in Elk County, Pennsylvania, very much support and appreciate the courage and resolve you demonstrated by agreeing to remain committed to your township's injection well ordinance … As we are learning, injection wells pose serious risks to the environments where they are sited - as do conventional gas wells."
