John E. "Ed" Neureiter, 87, of 439 Main St., Kersey, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 at the Pinecrest Manor after a lengthy illness.
He was born July 12, 1926 in Kersey, son of the late Raymond and Bertha Gahr Neureiter.
On May 23, 1953, in the St. Marys Church, he married Maudie Brennan who survives.
Mr. Neureiter was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Kersey High School. He was a retired employee of PennDOT, retiring in 1986 after 26 years of service. He was a member of the St. Boniface Church, an Army veteran of WWII, a member of the Fox Township Fire Department for 64 years, a member of Dagus Mines American Legion, member of the ASFME, former member of the Fox Township Ambulance and Fox Township Burial Detail. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and especially enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Donna Peters and her husband Barry of St. Marys, and Frances Erich and her husband Glenn of St. Marys; three grandchildren, Jason Fox, Jesse Erich and Nicholas Erich; and two nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Erich in 1990; and by a brother, Eugene Neureiter.
Due to the renovation of the St. Boniface Church, a Mass of Christian Burial for John E. "Ed" Neureiter will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Monday, Dec. 23 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. James Faluszczak, pastor of St. Boniface Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
