John A. Fedus

John A. Fedus, 79, of 7965 Laurel Mill Rd., Ridgway, died Sunday morning, Jan. 8, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center.
He was born May 15, 1932, in Johnsonburg, son of the late Charles and Anna (Bedner) Fedus.
On Sept. 29, 1956, he married Edith T. Strauss, who survives.
He had resided in Ridgway for the last 55 years and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion Post #208. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean conflict.
He was a graduate of the Johnsonburg Area High School. He had been employed by Ridgway Color and Chemical for 35 years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gary A. Fedus and his wife Nancy of Charleston, S.C., Kevin M. Fedus and his wife Amy of St. Marys; a daughter, Karen A. Leithner of Ridgway; seven grandchildren, Andy, Eric, Jake, LeeAnn, Tony, Samantha and Alex; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Stephen J. Fedus; one brother, Patrick Fedus; and four sisters, Margaret Mowrey, Rita Rennick, Erma Gelsick and Helen Fedus.
A Mass of Christian Burial for John A. Fedus will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Brian E. Vossler, pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Ridgway Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Burial will follow at St. Leo Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home, 136 Center St., Ridgway, on Wednesday, Jan. 11 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
