John G. "Jack" Meyer

John G. "Jack" Meyer, 80, of 120 Lecker Rd., St. Marys, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010 at his home.
He was born Nov. 29, 1930 in Dagus Mines, son of the late George and Helen Wildnauer Meyer Jr. On Feb. 23, 1952 in Rhode Island, he married the late Yvonne C. Fields Meyer, who preceded him in death on Dec. 13, 1999.
Mr. Meyer was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys schools. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1954 and retired from Stackpole Carbon Company after more than 40 years of service. He was a member of Queen of the World Church and was also a member of the Camp Owner's, the American Legion and the Eagles. He enjoyed spending time at camp, hunting and fishing. He also liked to make homemade wines. He will mostly be remembered for his passion and artistic abilities with woodworking, which he especially enjoyed.
He is survived by a daughter, Renee, Mrs. Paul Schwabenbauer of St. Marys; three sons, Bruce Meyer of St. Marys, Jay Meyer and his companion Patty Wendel of St. Marys and Alvin Meyer of St. Marys; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Greg Meyer and his wife Donna of St. Marys; and a sister, Carol Geitner of St. Marys.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, Matthew and Bradley Meyer; and two brothers, James and Donald Meyer.
Due to renovations at Queen of the World Church, a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for John G. "Jack" Meyer will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 325 Center St., St. Marys, on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at noon with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, as celebrant.
Military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
