John P. "Jack" Mullaney, 92, of 123 Diamond St., St. Marys, died Sunday June 29, 2014 at his residence after an illness of several months.
He was born Dec. 11, 1921 in St. Marys, son of the late Patrick and Charlotte Spangler Mullaney.
On April 14, 1956, in the St. Mary's Church, he married Therese S. Schneider, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School Class of 1939 and a graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. degree in chemistry. He was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Co.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and an Army veteran of WWII. He loved gardening, listening to music and walking his dog.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Laura Quay of Irvine, Calif., Charlotte Uber and her husband Jeff of Warren, and Maureen Mullaney and her husband Dan Barrett of Northampton, Mass; seven grandchildren, Matthew Quay, Michelle Quay, Jeffri Uber, Megan Uber, Ryan Uber, Aiden Barrett and Jera Barrett; a brother, James R. Mullaney, and his wife Bobbi of St. Marys; a brother-in-law, John Kosco of St. Marys; two sisters-in-law, Mary Friedl of St. Marys and Laura Andres of Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Patricia "Patty" Mullaney, Margaret "Peggy" Kelly and Mary Kosco; and two brothers, Maurice Mullaney and Kevin Mullaney in childhood.
Family and friends of John P. "Jack" Mullaney are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
There will be no visitation.
