Johnsonburg house destroyed in fire

Corporal Greg Agosti, a fire marshal for the Ridgway-based State Police, reported investigating a fire that occurred Sunday afternoon at 236 Blaine Ave. in Johnsonburg.
The fire was called in at approximately 2:30 p.m., with units from Johnsonburg, Ridgway, Wilcox, Fox Township, and the Crystal Fire Department responding. The two-story wood-frame residential dwelling was destroyed and the owner, 62-year-old David E. Deprater of Johnsonburg, was not home at the time. Agosti, along with the Johnsonburg Police Department and members of the Johnsonburg Fire Department, conducted an investigation and concluded that the fire was accidental in nature and resulted from a chimney fire.
There were no injuries and damage was estimated at $250,000.
