Jury finds Mt. Jewett man not guilty in rape case

June 4, 2014

SMETHPORT – A jury found a Mt. Jewett man not guilty Wednesday of all five charges linked with the alleged rape of former Mt. Jewett woman.
Paul Ray Swank, 33, of 7 Chestnut St., Mt. Jewett, had tears in his eyes after the verdict was read.
"I'm happy to get my life back and move on," Swank said as he left the McKean County courtroom following a three-day trial.
He has a sense of relief because he said the charges have been "hanging over my head" since Nov. 2, 2012. Swank has been free on $100,000 bail.
