Wednesday’s Kane at Elk County Catholic softball game was suspended in the top half of the fourth inning due to unplayable field conditions.
The game was suspended in the top half of the fourth inning with the Lady Wolves leading by a 1-0 score. They had the bases loaded at the time.
Abbey Bauer started on the mound for Elk, giving up three hits, walking two and striking out three. Kyla Hoag started on the mound for Kane, giving up one hit, walking one and striking out six.
Kristy Hanes had Elk’s lone hit, a double. Kaila Jamerson had a double while Hoag and Haylee Walters singled for Kane.
The Lady Wolves left two runners stranded in the top half of the first inning as Hoag singled and Jamerson doubled. In the home half of the inning, Hanes doubled but courtesy runner Michaela Cashmer was left stranded.
Kane went in order in the second inning. Bauer struck out the side in the home half of the inning.
In the top of the third, Haylee Walters reached base on an infield single. With one out, Hoag walked. Both moved up a base on an infield out. Walters scored on a passed ball, giving Kane the 1-0 lead. Elk Catholic left a runner on base in their half of the inning.
A walk and a hit batter started the top of the fourth when a 20-minute rain delay occurred. When play resumed, a sacrifice bunt moved the runners up a base. After a walk, the game was called due to the rainy conditions.
No decision has been made on whether the game will be rescheduled.
