Katherine Z. Brem

Katherine Z. Brem, 92, of Kersey, died peacefully Friday morning, June 15, 2012, at her daughter Mary’s home, where she had resided since April.
She was born Oct. 15, 1919 in Force, daughter of the late Harvey and Catherine Bigley Hayes. On Sept. 13, 1941 in the Holy Cross Church in Rasselas, she married Ambrose A. “Bud” Brem, who preceded her in death on July 3, 1990.
Mrs. Brem was a lifelong resident of the area and was a retired employee of the Kersey Post Office. She was a member of the St. Boniface Church, the Rosary Altar Society, the Fox Twp. Senior Center and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary (Gary) Grunthaner of State College, Catherine (Mick) Meraglia of Cherryville, N.C., Lois (Richard) Huff of Kersey and Sue (Richard) Thorne of State College; 11 grandchildren, Melissa Grunthaner Frost, Angela Meraglia Tilley, Peter James Thorne, Steven Huff, Damien Grunthaner, Laura Thorne, Michael Meraglia, Michele Meraglia Ament, Megan Grunthaner Cathcart, Mary Anne Thorne, and Sheila Huff Mazzaferro; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Brem, who died in infancy; a sister, Lois Pearson; and three brothers, Gerald, John and Leroy Hayes. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Katherine Z. Brem will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Jim Faluszczak, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday evening, June 24, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m.
