Kenneth G. Evans, 83, of 143 Hemlock Rd., St. Marys, died Tuesday morning, May 3, 2011, at the Elk Regional Health Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born May 7, 1927, in Wilcox, son of the late Kenneth and Agda Johnson Evans. On April 8, 1949, in Johnsonburg, he married Anna Mae Heitzenrater, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Wilcox High School, Class of 1945. He retired from the Pure Carbon Company in 1996 after 44 years of service.
He was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church, a veteran of WWII serving as a staff sergeant in the Army stationed in Germany, a member of the American Legion, and enjoyed model railroading, coin collecting, golf and bowling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Christine Finn of Wilcox and Diane Lupole and her husband Dan of St. Marys; a son, Gary Evans of Kersey; six grandchildren, Emily Parana, Jamie Evans, Jack Evans, Jerret Evans, Melissa Lupole and Meghan Lupole; two great-grandchildren, Matt Parana and Kate Parana; and a daughter-in-law, Maureen Evans of St. Marys.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, James Evans and Craig Evans; a sister, Caryl DePonceau; a son-in-law, William Finn; and a grandson, Anthony Evans.
A memorial service for Kenneth G. Evans will be held in the Shiloh Presbyterian Church on a later date to be announced. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Burial will be in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
