Kevin William Herzing, 51, of Opelika, Ala., died on Thursday, April 21, 2011.
He was born on Nov. 15, 1959, in St. Marys, son of James E. Herzing and the late Juanise E. Herzing.
He spent the majority of his life in Opelika, Ala., where he had many loving friends and clients in Opelika. If your car needed repair, most people came to Kevin. NASCAR made him happy, and Auburn football was his passion.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a brother, Joseph (Judy) Herzing; four daughters, Brooke Herzing and Valerie (Jason) Jackson, Ruth Campbell, and Jennifer (Mike) Staff; a son, John Campbell; a niece, Jennifer Bracey; three nephews, Ross (Nicky) Bracey, Brannon (Anya) Herzing, and Joshua (Danielle) Herzing; a brother-in-law, Ross (Amanda) Bracey; eight grandchildren; several great-nieces and nephews; a very special friend, Al; and many other friends.
Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Herzing; a sister, Sharon E. Bracey; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A celebration of Kevin William Herzing's life will be held today at 1 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Chapel, www.jeffcoattrant.com.
Burial will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery.
