Photo by Amy Cherry - A group of 22 incoming kindergarteners to the St. Marys Area School District was just one of four groups who participated in Dickinson Center, Inc.'s (DCI) Kindergarten Readiness Program. This is the first year for the program in the school district. In preparation of the entrance into elementary school, 106 students from throughout the St. Marys Area School District recently participated in Dickinson Center, Inc.'s (DCI) Kindergarten Readiness Program.
The free six-week program was open to any incoming kindergartener at South St. Marys Street, Fox Township or Bennetts Valley elementary schools. Dickinson staff conducted four different sessions, each being held two days a week for 2.5 hours each. The program took place at SSMSE.
Deborah Freeburg, program facilitator and Dickinson LIFE program caseworker, stated more than 80 percent of students participated on a regular basis.
