RIDGWAY – The Elk County Courthouse will see a shift as 2014 winds down as two-term Elk County Sheriff Jeff Krieg will not serve out his final year at the helm and will instead retire.
Krieg's decision, kept largely under wraps for the duration of the year, was initially made as far back as January.
"I have an opportunity now where some of my family is moving back from Tennessee, including my grandchild, daughter, and a son-in-law who's been serving in Afghanistan, so it's a perfect opportunity to move ahead and stay home and spend time with them," he said during an interview Tuesday morning in his office.
