Kuntz conducting annual Kentucky prom gown collection

Photo submitted Laura Kuntz, a local kindergarten teacher, is once again collecting prom gowns for underprivileged youth. She was deliver the dresses this month. Any donations may be dropped off at St. Marys Catholic Elementary School or to Kuntz's home.

Those looking to rid their closest of prom and formal gowns, wedding dresses and accessories may consider donating them to local schoolteacher Laura Kuntz, who distributes the gowns to underprivileged girls and women in poverty-stricken Beatyville, Ky.
Now in her fourth year of collecting gowns, Kuntz plans to made the trip to Kentucky this month, earlier than in past years.
Kuntz, a kindergarten teacher at St. Marys Catholic Elementary School, is also known for her Christmas in Kentucky program, which she has been conducting for the past 15 years. For Christmas in Kentucky, she collects donations of toys, clothes and money and distributes them to the same area. As part of the program, she teams up with a Beatyville human services staff member who helps coordinate the distribution.
"This is my fourth year and I am always appreciative of the help and support that the St. Marys area has given," Kuntz said.
The counties served by Kuntz's project are two of the poorest counties in the U.S.
