Kuntz seeking prom gowns for disadvantaged teens

March 13, 2014

Photo submitted Prom gown collection organizer Laura Kuntz displays just two of the dresses donated through her program which benefits unprivileged Kentucky teens who cannot afford a prom gown.

Last year marked the most prom gowns collected from area residents as part of an effort to ensure a group of disadvantaged Kentucky teens could attend their school proms.
According to Laura Kuntz, a St. Marys Catholic Elementary School teacher and project organizer, said she distributed 102 dresses, 43 pairs of shoes and various accessories such as purses and jewelry.
Kuntz is currently collecting gowns, dresses, shoes and accessories which she plans to hand-deliver to Beatyville, Ky., a deeply poverty-stricken area, toward the end of March as their prom takes place at the end of April.
