St. Marys Area girls' tennis team lost to ECC 7-2 in a match that started on Thursday and ended on Friday after being suspended due to rain. St. Marys is now 5-5 on the season.
"(Friday) was another good match between two good teams," said ECC coach Pete Meier. "Both squads played very well considering the weather. Tennis is supposed to be played on dry courts with temps in the 70s. (Friday) it was rainy and 50, but I have to give the girls on both teams a lot of credit for playing very good tennis under such adverse conditions."
At first singles, St. Marys Area's Aubrey Weisner won 6-3, 6-4 against Laira Reuscher.
"This was a great match between the both of them," said St. Marys Area coach Sue Lepovetsky.
At second singles, St. Marys had to forfeit due to injury.
At third singles, Chelsea Agosti lost in a third-set tie-breaker 6-1, 4-6, 4-10 against ECC's Kristin Dippold.
At fourth singles, Danielle McCoy lost her match 0-6, 1-6 to ECC's Sophie Herzing.

"The girls played well despite the rain and having to play another day to finish their matches," Lepovetsky said.

"The match was well-played by both teams," Lepovetsky said.
"The doubles match of the day came at first doubles, where Kristin Dippold and Abby Wittman lost a heartbreaker," Meier added. "Abby and Kristin are both wonderful young ladies, they have been playing very well for us, and today they just came up short."
At second doubles, Danielle McCoy and Madison Squires lost their match 3-8 to ECC's Rachel Stauffer and Marla Scacchitti.
"Our doubles teams also played very well, especially at second doubles, where Marla Scacchitti and Rachel Stauffer played great tennis in their win," Meier said.
