Lady Crusaders top Brockway Lady Rovers 42-26

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders picked up their fifth victory of the season on Wednesday evening when they defeated the Brockway Area High Lady Rovers in an AML encounter by the score of 42 to 26.
"We did a great job on the boards tonight," said ECCHS Head Coach Ken Pistner following the game. "Another factor in tonight's win was the solid minutes of play that we received from our bench players."
"Tonight we had a much better offensive flow than we have displayed in the past few games," added the coach.
Karly Carnovale led the Lady Crusaders in scoring with a game-high 16 points. She was followed by Abbi Petrosky with nine, Ellie Petrosky with eight, Emily Gregory with four, Taylor DaCanal and Morgan Onink with two each and Maggie Sorg with one point.
The Brockway squad was led by Zoe Hawkins with seven points, while Leann Crawford and Jalina Sabatose each added six points, followed by Ann Moyer with three, and Sara Guilyard and Juliana Vokes with two each.
The Lady Crusaders dominated the first quarter of play as they put 15 points on their side of the scoreboard while holding the Brockway girls scoreless.
Brockway rebounded in the second quarter to outscore the Lady Crusaders by a 12-10 count to cut the lead at the half to 25-12 in favor of the Lady Crusaders.
Elk Catholic's defense took charge again in the third quarter as they held the Lady Rovers to three points, while the Lady Crusaders scored nine points to push their lead to 19 points and a 34-15 score going into the final eight minutes of play.
Brockway outscored the Lady Crusaders 11 to 8 in the final period to make the final score 42-26.
Game notes
Elk Catholic is now 5-3 on the season and 1-1 in the North Division of the AML. Brockway is 3-5 on the season and is 2-0 in the South Division of the AML.
The Lady Crusaders will return to action on Saturday evening when they play host to the Sheffield Lady Wolverines in another AML contest. The JV game is slated for 6 p.m., with the varsity game set for 7:30 p.m.
