Laura J. Thiry

Laura J. Thiry, 97, Johnsonburg, died Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Lutheran Home in Kane after a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 21, 1916 in Clarion County, daughter of the late Merle and Pearl Wolfe.
She was married to Edward A. Thiry he preceded her in death in 2002.
Laura was Methodist by faith. She loved to play the board game “Sorry.”
Laura is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clark (Beverly) Miller of Brockway and Mrs. Scott (Susan) Wilson of Brookville; three sons, Edward Thiry of Ottumwa, Iowa, John “Jack” Thiry of Johnsonburg, and Philip Thiry and wife Janice of Louisville, Ky.; and 24 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. She is the last of her immediate family.
Laura was also preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Thomas Thiry and 10 brothers and sisters.
Services for Laura J. Thiry will be held on Wednesday, July 16 at 3 p.m. at Ubel Funeral Home, 111 Bridge St., Johnsonburg, with Reverend Dan Riegel officiating. Burial will take place in Parklawn Cemetery beside her husband.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home in Johnsonburg.
