Lawrence L. Fantechi, 78, of 136 Rambler Rd., St. Marys, died on Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born August 28, 1933 in Byrnedale, son of the late Bruno and Theo Klaiber Fantechi.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Weedville High School, Class of 1951. He was a retired employee of the Pure Carbon Co., retiring in 1998 after 33 years of service.
On June 14, 1958, in the St. Boniface Church, he married Joyce E. Bauer. She survives.
Mr. Fantechi was a member of the Queen of the World Church, a veteran of the Korean War having served in the Marines and was a member of the American Legion. He loved to hunt and fish.
Also surviving are two daughters; Sharon Kraft (Robert) of Lititz ,and Barbara Scheetz (Brian) of Ellicott City, MD; one son, Steven L. Fantechi (April) of Weedville; eight grandchildren, Kayla Colletti, Lindsay Scheetz, Dalton Fantechi, Jonathan Kraft, Garrett Scheetz, Hunter Fantechi, Rachel Scheetz, Travis Kraft and by a brother Jerome Fantechi (Linda) of Chandler, AZ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Kostecki.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Lawrence L. Fantechi will be celebrated in the Queen of the World on Monday, Dec. 19, 2011 at noon, with the Rev. Michael Ferrick, pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the Morningside Cemetery in DuBois.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
