Leo David Finfinger, 74, of Dover, Del., died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 in his home, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Finfinger was born Jan. 9, 1937 in St. Marys, son of the late George and Margaret Sayers Finfinger. He served almost 34 years in the U.S. Air Force, both on active duty and as a reservist. Following his retirement, he worked in Civil Service at DAFB for 5 years. He was an avid fan of Caesar Rodney High School sports, as well as the Baltimore Colts.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Deloris Finfinger of Dover, Del.; five sons, Robert and wife Margaret of Sunbury, Frank and wife Laurie Berry of San Antonio, Texas, James and wife Brenda of Boerne, Texas, Patrick of Dover, Del., and David and wife Rochelle of Magnolia, Del.; one daughter, Kimberly Dotson and husband Bill of Dover, Del.; 16 grandchildren, Justin, Jason, Josh, Joel and Brandi Finfinger, Michael and August Finfinger, Eric and wife Erin, Heather and Jessi Dotson, Kate Blanchfield, Caitlyn Finfinger, Meghan Heras, Caitlyn Rendon, and Jessica and Justin Jenkins; 13 great-grandchildren; brother James Finfinger of Austin, Texas; and sister Ruth Rupprecht of St. Marys.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Finfinger, in 2004; three brothers, George, Robert and Louis; and three sisters, Margaret, Marie and Lois.
Funeral services for Leo David Finfinger will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9 in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, Del. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
Friends may call at Torbert Funeral Chapel South from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 5239 W. Woodmill Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808.
