Local teacher participates in exclusive program

February 2, 2012

Photo submitted - SMAMS teacher Cherri Gigliotti completed an exclusive Library of Congress Summer Teachers Institute program, during which she utilized her knowledge inside the classroom.

Being able to touch Abraham Lincoln's Bible used during presidential inaugurations or reading an authentic journal of a Civil War soldier were just two things St. Marys Area Middle School teacher Cherri Gigliotti never imagined were possible until she attended the Library of Congress Summer Teachers Institute.
As part of the five-day institute held in Washington, D.C. throughout the summer, participants are permitted an all-access pass to the Library of Congress' vast archives.
