Lois Ann Bevacqua, 72, of 846 Noelani Dr., Duncansville, died Saturday morning, Jan. 1, 2011 at Altoona Regional Health System in Altoona following a lengthy illness.
She was born March 31, 1938 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Bronislaw "Bruno" and Anna Simchick Golebieski.
On Aug. 20, 1960 in Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg she married Joseph J. Bevacqua, who survives.
Formerly of DuBois and Johnsonburg, she resided in Duncansville for the last year and three months. A 1956 graduate of Johnsonburg High School, she was also a member of St. Marys Parish in Hollidaysburg and a former member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in DuBois. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, travel, sewing and other crafts. She was employed by Penn Traffic Corporation for 35 years, retiring in 1996. She had also worked at the Johnsonburg A&P for six years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Julie, Mrs. Kevin Feath of Holidaysburg and Jennifer M. Bevacqua of DuBois; four grandchildren, Jeremy, Kyle and Lindsey Feath and Natalie Kadingo; a brother, John Golebieski and his wife Rosanne of Johnsonburg; and three sisters, Patricia Golebieski of Johnsonburg, Valerie, Mrs. Norman "Deb" Haight of Johnsonburg and Linda, Mrs. David Gigliotti of Johnsonburg.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Golebieski, and five sisters, Helen "Margie" Szczotka, Rita Niedzwecki, Jean Montgomery, Regina Golebieski and Clara Golebieski.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Lois A. Bevacqua to be celebrated at Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg on Wednesday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
Visitation will be private.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg.
