Louis J. Cenni, 93, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011.
He was born in Brandy Camp on Oct. 26, 1917, the son of the late Louis J. and Emilia Cenni.
He graduated from Horton Township High School in 1936, the University of Notre Dame in 1940, and Temple Medical School in 1943.
He served overseas in World War II and the Korean War. He remained in the U.S. Army Reserves until his retirement as a colonel in 1978.
As a civilian, his medical practice was chief of surgery in the veterans hospitals in Colorado and Kansas until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Boards of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby June; his two daughters, Kay and Donna; granddaughter Heather; great-grandsons, Jackson and Joshua; his sister, Catherine Surra; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Tosca Michelini; and two brothers, Ray and Hugo.
A Funeral Mass for Louis J. Cenni will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Brandy Camp.
