Louis J. DiIulio, 84, of Sixth Avenue, Johnsonburg, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys following a lengthy illness.
He was born December 12, 1926 in Keystone, son of the late Armundo and Viola (Cherry) DiIulio.
He married Carrie Beer, who preceded him in death in 1990.
He lived all of his life in Johnsonburg and attended Johnsonburg schools. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII in Company B, 864th Engineer Aviation Battalion. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, WWII Victory Ribbon and Army Occupation Medal (Japan).
He retired from the Johnsonburg Paper Mill in 1988. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by a daughter, Sherry, and her husband Greg Menniti of Proctorville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Adrienne and her husband Jeff Stallard, Scott Menniti and Tony Menniti; two brothers, Francis and his wife Pam DiIulio and James and his wife Annie DiIulio, all of Johnsonburg; a sister-in-law, Delores DiIulio of Johnsonburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother, John DiIulio; and two sisters, Virginia Thompson and Mary Cartwright.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Louis J. DiIulio will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 22 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Johnsonburg, with Father David Wilson as celebrant. Interment will be at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg/Wilcox Servicemenâ€™s Detail. Servicemen are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 9 a.m. on Friday.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 21 2â€“4 and 6â€“8 p.m. and Friday, July 22 from 8:30â€“9:30 a.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home in Johnsonburg.
