Mabel M. Gillen-Ives, 56, of Tyler Road, Penfield, died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Nov. 18, 1955 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Paul J. and Mary "Tootie" (McClain) Gillen.
A homemaker, she lived in St. Marys until coming to Penfield in 1979. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, enjoyed car shows, was an avid Steelers fan, and was a loving mother and fun-loving aunt to many.
She is survived by her longtime companion, Omar H. "Junior" Ives of Penfield; a son, Michael Ives and his fiancee Terry Fenice of Weedville; a sister, Sandy Challingsworth of St. Marys; and many nieces and nephews, including her special great-nieces and nephew with whom she spent considerable time: D.J., Emiley, and Maggie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul A. Gillen.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mabel M. Gillen-Ives will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 7 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Force, with Fr. Thomas Tyler officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery in DuBois.
Visitation will be held at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield on Sunday, May 6 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday, May 7 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
