Madlyn Mary DeSantis Ferraro

Madlyn Mary DeSantis Ferraro died Aug. 7, 2014 after a brief illness.
She was a longtime resident of Montgomery but recently relocated to Raleigh, N.C.
She was an amazing artist and her works of art are displayed throughout the southeast. Madlyn was also a dedicated RN that took care of many patients while they struggled with cancer. After her time as a nurse, she devoted the duration of her career in cancer research at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
She is survived by her husband, David I. McGuinness; her children, Anita M Barrera (Jeff), Anthony J. Ferraro (Julie) and Melissa F. Mercer (Browne); her grandchildren, Lindsey H. Ferraro, Isabella Barrera, Gabby E. Barrera, Mary Alice Mercer and Anne McClure Mercer. She is also survived by four siblings, Joseph A. DeSantis (Susan), Victor S. DeSantis (Cheryl), Sylvia A. Young (George) and Jimmy DeSantis (Susan).
Madlyn was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony James DeSantis and Mary Alice Pisoni.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations on behalf of Madlyn to either: St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 209 Denim Drive, Erwin, N.C. 28339, The American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
