Major baseball stars defeat Fox Township 12-4

St. Marys hosts DuBois Thursday
KERSEY - The St. Marys Little League Baseball Major All-Star squad stayed alive in the District 10 South Division Tournament with a 12-4 victory over the Fox Township squad Monday night at the Fox Township Community Park.
St. Marys will return to action Thursday when they take on DuBois at 6 p.m. at a site to be announced. DuBois lost to Punxsutawney by a 9-0 score last night in DuBois.
St. Marys had nine hits in last night’s contest, led by Nate Beimel and Ryan Heary, both with a double and a single. Gabe Kraus had a two-run home run, while Austin Sadosky had a double. Tim Wehler, Hayden Tettis and Logan Hoffman all singled.
For Fox, Nate Schneider had a home run and two singles while Tyler Bullers doubled. Carter Julian, Brock Klaiber and Alec Meyer all singled.
Gabe Kraus started on the mound for St. Marys and worked three innings, giving up four hits and striking out seven. Tim Wehler worked two innings, giving up two hits, walking two and striking out three. Ryan Heary worked one inning of relief, giving up one hit and striking out two.
Tyler Bullers started on the mound for Fox, going 3 1/3 innings and giving up five hits, walking five and striking out three. Jagger Dinsmore worked 2 2/3 innings, giving up four hits and striking out three.
As a result of the coin toss, St. Marys was the visitor last night. In the top of the first inning, St. Marys left a runner stranded. Fox went down in order in their half of the inning. With one out in the top of the second inning, Nate Beimel walked. Special pinch runner Alec Wehler moved to second on a passed ball and scored on a single by Logan Hoffman, giving St. Marys the 1-0 lead. Tyler Bullers led off the home half of the inning with a double. He moved to third on an error and scored on a single by Alex Meyer to knot the game at 1-all.
With one out in the top of the third inning, Austin Sadosky doubled and moved to third on an error. He scored on an infield out as St. Marys took the 2-1 lead. In the home half of the third inning, Fox left a runner stranded.
Nate Beimel led off the top of the fourth with a single. He moved to second on an error. Hoffman reached base on an error and went to second on the play. Ryan Newton reached base on an error, allowing both Beimel and Hoffman to score. Newton was caught too far off first base for the first out of the inning. Alec Wehler walked and Tim Wehler reached base on a fielder’s choice. Sadosky walked. A single by Heary scored both Beimel and Wehler. Sadosky moved to third on a passed ball and scored on a passed ball. Kraus hit a two-run home run. Tettis followed with a double, but was left stranded as St. Marys led 9-1. In the home half of the inning, Klaiber led off with a single and moved to second on an error. Meyer walked. With one out, Schneider singled, scoring Klaiber to make the score 9-2.
With one out in the top of the fifth, Alec Wehler reached base on an error and moved to second on a passed ball. He scored on a single by Tim Wehler, who went all the way to third on an error and was able to score on a passed ball as St. Marys took an 11-2 lead. In the home half of the inning, Fox Township stranded one.
With one out in the top of the sixth, Nate Beimel doubled. Hoffman reached base on an error, sending Beimel to third. A sacrifice fly to left by Ryan Bressler scored Beimel to give St. Marys a 12-2 lead. With one out in the home half of the sixth, Garret Cook reached base on an error. He moved to second on a passed ball and scored on a two-run home run by Nate Schneider to make the final score 12-4 in favor of St. Marys.
