Manager updates on needed pool repairs, trail project

June 29, 2014

City Manager Dave Greene

Repairs to the St. Marys Community Pool and an update on the Rails to Trail project encompassed a portion of City Manager Dave Greene's regular activity report presented at a recent City Council meeting.
Greene met with Ken Wolfe from the St. Marys Recreation Board to review previous proposals and a feasibility study on Memorial Park's St. Marys Community Pool. He stated he has not reviewed the information since 2008.
The initial proposal put repairs at a cost of $4-$8 million. This included repairs to the bathhouse and completely demolishing and rebuilding the entire complex.
Greene said the city cannot undertake such a costly project, however after reviewing the proposal they can do improvements to just the swimming pool for less than $500,000.
