DUBOIS - Panelists from variousÂ backgrounds discussed an array of topics associated with Marcellus Shale drilling and the industry's impact on Pennsylvania during a special presentation hosted by the Greater DuBois Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development.
On Tuesday morning, participants from throughout the area gathered at the DuBois Country Club for the "Marcellus Shale Forum: Opportunities and Answers for Pennsylvania" event, which was co-sponsored by the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry Educational Foundation.
Following a welcome statement by Nancy Micks, president and CEO of the Greater DuBois Chamber of Commerce, President and CEO of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry Gene Barr provided an introduction to the event.
"We wanted to bring together people from across Pennsylvania to have a dialogue," Barr said.
Panelists who spoke at the event were Rayola Dougher, senior economic advisor for American Petroleum Institute; Louis D'Amico, president and executive director of the Pennsylvania Independent Oil and Gas Association; Paul King, president and CEO of Pennsylvania Environmental Council; and Kirk K. Elkin, mineral resources program specialist at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
Also speaking were William H. Young, general manager of Superior Energy Resources of Brockway and Larry Bobal, business development manager for Global Fabrication, Inc., of DuBois, both of whom offered input from local companies.Â
