Margaret Ann Nale (aka, Midge Nortum), 66, of Indianapolis, Ind., died on Sept. 7, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her daughter and niece.
She was born Aug. 28, 1947 in Johnsonburg to the late Lawrence Frederick Nortum and Lillian Margaret (Leahy) Nortum.
Margaret enjoyed helping others, singing, playing cards (especially a good game of euchre), dancing, writing, painting, throwing darts, butterflies, going to the park with Gusto, traveling (especially to Arizona), but her greatest joy was spending time with her daughter, grandchildren, family and friends. Cooking, what can we say; she also loved to feed her family and friends. She will fondly be remembered for her impromptu dinners. There was always a standing invitation to come over for dinner. Many friends and family will especially recall, and now miss her wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. She always made everyone feel like family. We all will remember her voice, her beauty and her laugh. She was an example of a strong, hard-working, gracious, smart mom and woman. Her generous heart and warm soul touched so many. She loved deeply and will be missed in a way that words cannot express.
Surviving is her only daughter, Tracy (Jason) Abel; two grandchildren, Tristan Abel and Zoey Abel; siblings Jerry W. (Pat) Nortum and Allan F. Nortum; five nieces and nephews, Patrick (Leigh Ann Hayes) Fritz, Janet (Jeff) Kent, Stacy (Frank) Ginther, Daniel Nortum, Danielle (Jason) Mock; many great nieces and nephews and her beloved little dog, Gusto. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Leahy Fritz.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
