Martin appears at pre-trial hearing in death of girlfriend

RIDGWAY – On Friday morning accused murderer Nicholas Martin of Johnsonburg, charged in the killing of his 18-year-old girlfriend Alyssa Forsyth of Ridgway, appeared in front of Elk County President Judge Richard Masson as part of a pre-trial hearing.
Martin, 23, is accused of stabbing Forsyth to death in the neck, back and chest with a kitchen knife and screwdriver during the early morning hours of March 23, 2013 inside his apartment located at 416 First Ave. in Johnsonburg. He is then alleged to have transported her body to Sandy Beach Recreational Park in Ridgway Township where she was found nude, wrapped in plastic garbage bags and bearing multiple stab wounds on March 26.
Martin is charged with first degree murder, aggravated assault and abuse of a corpse. He is currently incarcerated in the Jefferson County Prison in Brookville and is not eligible for bail.
