Mary Carmella Georgino, 88, of DuBois, and formerly of Penfield, died Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Christ the King Manor.
Born on July 19, 1924 in Willoughby, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John and Natale (Piunno) Geremia.
Mary graduated with a business major from Andrews School. From 1942-1950, she worked as a contract analyst and expediter with the Cleveland Crane and Engineering Co. As it happens, her older brother, Mike, a sergeant serving in Europe during WWII, met a young Don Georgino and shared pictures of his beautiful sister back in the states. Mary and Don corresponded via love letters and pictures for a long time until they met. On July 10, 1950, Mary married Donald C. Georgino, who preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 2007.
From 1951-1997, she worked as the billing supervisor in the family business of Georgino & Sons until her retirement. She was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Force, where she served on the parish council and was a Eucharistic minister. She was a volunteer and member of the Maple Avenue/DRMC Auxiliary, where she was a guide and worked at the snack bar. She was also a member of the Clara Hall Service League, a division of Maple Avenue/DRMC Auxiliary, from 1996-1999.
She was a member and past president of the Business and Professional Women Association. Mary was a board member and past member of the American Cancer Society since 1975. She was named volunteer of the year in 1975, and she was also volunteer of the year at DRMC.
She is survived by two children, Jennifer M. Georgino of Atlanta, Ga., and Damian C. Georgino, Esq., and his wife Tracey A. Harvey of Sewickley, and their two grandchildren, Madeline Marie Georgino and Nicholas Damian Georginio
In addition to her parents and her husband of 57 years, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Peter Geremia.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Carmella Georgino will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, with Fr. David Foradori as celebrant.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home. A scriptural wake service will be held Tuesday night at 8:30 p.m.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
