Mary Lou Fleming

Mary Lou Fleming, age 92, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home, formerly of Ridgway, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 30, 2013.
She was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Elbon, the daughter of the late John Cuneo and Rocepha Meyers Cuneo. On May 6, 1944, she married William I. Fleming, Jr., who preceded her in death on May 5, 1992. Mary Lou was a graduate of Horton Township School. She was a registered nurse, having attended St. Vincent School of Nursing and Villa Maria College. For over 40 years, she worked as a Public Health Nurse, a Private Duty Nurse and a Registered Nurse at Elk County General Hospital. She was an active member of St. Leo’s Church in Ridgway having served as the Grand Regent of the C.D. of A. Mary Lou gave her time unselfishly to many community organizations. She enjoyed volunteering, playing cards, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Sue Spiher of St. Marys, Sally and Daniel Tate of St. Marys, and Patrick Fleming of Ridgway; her grandchildren, Jennifer Spiher, Samantha Nedzinski (Jason), Stacey Webster (Thomas), Stephanie Tate, Jonathan Fleming; step-grandchildren Pam Gerarge (Manny) and Shelly Hetrick (D.J.) Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Anthony and Louis Nedzinski, Sloan Webster; and step-great-grandchildren Alicia, Mandy, Jo, and Amber Gerarge, and David and Georgia Hetrick.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Andrew Spiher. She was the last of her immediate family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Lou Fleming will be celebrated at St. Leo’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Fr. Eric Vogt. Interment will be in St. Leo’s Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to CAPSEA, P.O.
