Mary M. Vollmer
Mary M. Vollmer, 66, of 1045 Powers Run, St. Marys, died Sunday, July 1, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family and friends.She was born June 18, 1946 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Leo “Boots” and Marie McMahon Breindel. On July 10, 1971 in the Sacred Heart Church, she married Benedict “Buster” Vollmer, who survives. Mrs. Vollmer was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Elk County Christian High School, Class of 1964. She also attended Villa Maria College in Erie. She was a former teacher at the Johnsonburg Elementary School. She was a retired employee of Osram Sylvania, retiring after 32 years of service. After retirement, she worked at Ferragine Pools and Spas.She was a member of the St. Mary’s Church, was a Life Teen Counselor, a Girl Scout Leader and taught CCD. She belonged to prayer groups in St. Marys and Florida. She was a ceramics instructor, loved the arts, enjoyed traveling, the beach, camping and snowmobiling with family and friends and was an avid yard-saler.In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Rene Vollmer (Jeff) Cole of St. Cloud, Fla.; a son, Brandon (Aerial) Vollmer of St. Marys; six grandchildren, Matthew Cole, Jesse Cole, Ariana Cole, Cheyeanne Vollmer, Ben Vollmer and Brandon Vollmer Jr; four sisters, Kathleen (Larry) Nekuza of St. Marys, Deborah (Jeff) Constable of St. Marys, Marjorie Guyton and her fiancé Bob of Bradenton, Fla., and Donna (William) Holjencin of Kersey; two brothers, Tom (Gretchen) Breindel of Island of Palms, S.C., and Michael “Boots” (Bernie) Breindel of St. Marys; 12 nieces and nephews; and her dog, Taz.Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ciara Vollmer, who died in 2004. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary M. Vollmer will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 10 a.m, with the Rev. Meinrad Lawson OSB, pastor, officiating.
