Mary Rita Valentine

Mary Rita Valentine, 95, of 327 Chestnut Street, St. Marys, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at her home. 
She was born May 30, 1916 in St. Marys, daughter of the late John and Josephine Geeck Eckl.  She was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from St. Marys schools.  She was a retired personnel manager of the Stackpole Carbon Corp. and had worked for the Conrad family for many years.
On November 11, 1967 in the Queen of the World Church, she married R. Thomas Valentine, who preceded her in death on September 7, 2011.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, including Msgr. John Snyder of Erie.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by nine sisters, Margaret Walker, Cecilia Baker, Madeline Carson, Gertrude Hamilton, Rosemary Snyder, Agatha Serr, Walburga Nussbaum, and two sisters in infancy, Martha and Pauline; and three brothers, Benjamin Eckl, Herman Eckl, and Anthony Eckl.
She was the last member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Valentine was a member of the Queen of the World Church and the Quarter Century Club of Stackpole Carbon Corp.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Rita Valentine will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Friday, October 7, 2011 at noon with the Rev. Michael Ferrick, pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Queen of the World Church on Friday from 11 a.m. until Mass at noon.
