Maurice Falcettoni

Maurice Falcettoni, 98, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and a former resident of Dagus Mines, died Monday, March 14 at the Elk Regional Health Center after a brief illness.
He was born July 26, 1912 in Dagus Mines, son of the late Alexander (Alex) and Lena Gornati Falcettoni.
He was a lifelong resident of Dagus Mines and attended Kersey schools. He was the owner of a store in Dagus Mines and also worked as a coal miner.
He was a member of St. Boniface Church and a veteran of World War II, having served in the 112th Infantry, Division 20, and was a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge, having received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Kersey Eagles, Kersey Firemen's and the Dagus Mines American Legion. He was a baseball player with the United Mine Workers Team and loved to watch young people enjoy sports. He was also the last member of the Kersey Firemen's Marching Team.
He is survived by a son, David Ninnis (Janice) of Kersey; a sister, Mary Swanson of St. Marys; a sister-in-law, Willa Falcettoni of Glenshaw; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Mattone; and by two brothers, John (Johnny) Falcettoni and Andrew (Andy) Falcettoni.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Maurice Falcettoni will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Saturday, March 19 at noon, with the Rev. James Faluszczak, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Twp. Servicemen's Burial Detail. Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to a favorite charity.
